What we do recycle?
Walmart has discontinued the recycling of plastic bags Challenge. Please do not drop your bags off at school because we have not found another source to recyle these bags. You may want to check with your local grocery store for plastic bag recycle options.
Aluminum (pop and/or beer cans) with the tabs removed for Mrs. Baker’s class to send to Ronald McDonald House. We would appreciate having them rinsed out.
IMPORTANT:
The Pacific NW Recycling Center will not take the following:
** NO plastic bottles or other containers
** NO tin or steel food cans (i.e. what your green beans or chili or your Chef-Boyardee comes in)
What do we get in return?
The Aluminum cans are taken to the recycling center by Mrs. Baker’s husband and or a parent volunteer from her room. We do participate in the Mid-Columbia Can Recycling contest in the March-April time frame when the recycling center agrees to pay (or at least has in the past) 10 cents more per pound than normal and we are in the running for a cash prize from Mid-Columbia … we took 3rd place last year and got an additional $150 dollars. This money goes into a PTO fund which we have purchased trees for the planters and playground.
