Mr. Tony Langdon
"After one year, we ride
back into Sunset..."
Hello Parents!
As part of our Mustang Pride program, each letter in the word “PRIDE” represents a part of our school pride mission at Sunset View. Each month we have a focused theme. The theme for February and March is “effort”, taken from the letter E in PRIDE.
In an article titled, “The Secret to Rising Smart Kids”, Carol Deck states, “Many people assume that superior intelligence or ability is a key to success. But more than three decades of research shows that an overemphasis on intellect or talent—and the implication that such traits are innate and fixed—leaves people vulnerable to failure, fearful of challenges and unmotivated to learn. Teaching people to have a mind-set which encourages a focus on effort rather than on intelligence or talent, produces higher achieverment in school and in life.” We can praise children for their effort or persistence rather than simply for their intelligence. This can be achieved by telling success stories and giving inspirational feedback that emphasizes hard work and fostering a love of learning.
Spring conferences are scheduled for March 8th and 9th. Spring conferences are by special arrangement and are not scheduled for all students unless Parents or Teacher determine the desire to visit.
Please notify the main office if you wish to be placed on the weekly Sunset View News Blast. It is a weekly news email that contains important weekly news. It is highly recommended to be on this mailer.
With best regards,
Mr. Langdon, Principal
